Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What’s the difference between therapy and life skills coaching?
Therapy focuses on emotional healing, mental health, and processing past experiences. Life skills coaching is more action-oriented, helping you build practical tools for everyday life—like time management, organization, and independence. I often blend both approaches, depending on your goals.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes! All therapy and life skills coaching sessions are conducted via secure telehealth, so you can meet from the comfort of your home anywhere in California.
What ages do you work with?
I work with teens, young adults, and their families—typically ages 12 through the late 20s.
Do you work with parents too?
Yes. For younger clients, I offer parent support and coaching as part of the therapeutic process, especially around communication, boundaries, and supporting independence.
How long are sessions, and how often do we meet?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes. Frequency varies—some clients meet weekly, while others move to bi-weekly as progress is made. We’ll create a schedule that works best for your needs.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything we talk about is confidential, with a few legal exceptions related to safety. I’ll explain these fully during our first session.
Can I do life coaching without therapy?
Yes. If you're primarily looking for support with executive functioning, independence, or building confidence in life skills, we can focus on coaching alone. We’ll discuss your goals and customize the approach.
Do you work with neurodivergent clients (e.g., ADHD, ASD, learning differences)?
Absolutely. I have experience supporting teens and young adults with ADHD, ASD, executive functioning difficulties, and learning challenges through both therapy and coaching.
Do you take insurance?
I am in-network with a wide range of insurance providers (see list below) and can also provide out-of-network services via superbill or private pay. For private pay clients experiencing financial difficulty, I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots.
Accepted Insurance Providers: Aetna, Carelon Behavioral Health, Inc.Christian Brothers Services - Aetna, Health Plans Inc., Meritain, Nippon, Optum, Oscar, Oxford Health Plans, Providence Health Plan, Surest (Formerly Bind), UHC
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask that clients provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, there is a 50% charge for the first late cancellation. After that, the full session fee will be charged for missed or late-canceled appointments. I understand that life happens, and I’ll always do my best to be flexible when possible—but consistency helps us make meaningful progress.
